Hammerfall (r)evolution album review

Hammerfall's newest album, (r)Evolution has a total of 11 songs on it and overall it is a good album. this band is classed as heavy metal. this album has undertones of old fashioned metal which is what makes this album good as it goes back to the roots of the metal genre.

Hector's hymn is the first song on this album, it starts of with a slow electric guitar intro then speeds up after the first few bars. throughout the song it has a consistent beat and is about a medieval fantasy  warrior named Hector. it makes the song a good start for the album. The second song on the album is (r)Evolution which is about a guy dying and what he says on his death bed. be warned though some of the lyrics may sound different to what they actually are. the last song I'm going to review individually is the song Winter Is Coming which is in reference to Game of Thrones. I think this song really puts the series in perspective. Plus i'm a big fan of Game Of Thrones which gives this album brownie points on my part.

You can find this album on spotify, google, play, YouTube, iTunes  so go check it out. Also the Record company Nuclear blast have produced quite a few good bands so if you are looking to expand your music library look into them. Including Behemoth, Anthrax, Children Of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Meshuggah,  Fear factory and Slayer.

Some bands worth listening too

Hammerfall: this is a good band that you'll like if you listen to old style rock e.g. Led zeppelin. As their style is like them
Van canto : they are a German a cappella band who cover the likes of deep purple, iron maiden and Metallica. As well as different bands and even cover into the West from Lord of the Rings.
Area51: they are a Japanese metal band fronted by a female vocalist.  They are kind of like evanescence in a way that some of their songs feature high notes being sung.
Arkona : is a pagan metal band from Russia,  also fronted by a female who does all the vocals even the screaming parts.  A good song to start with is goi,  rode, goi.  Which is about russ warriors shipwrecked
Five finger death punch : the lead singers voice is amazing especially when he sings, cold,  far from home.  I would describe them as hard rock

Just a quick line

Avenged Sevenfold

I apologize for not updating for a while I had no internet at all which sucked.

anyway today I wanted to talk about Avenged Sevenfold, now I know this is relatively old news and you all probably know about what they did earlier this year. If you don't know however this is what happened:

they joined the Rise above fest to help raise money for the charity SAVE(Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) along with Seether. A7x did this because a 16 year old fan committed suicide on top of this they did an online auction where they signed things and all profits went to this charity. This certainly an admirable trait in anyone let alone celebrities. As you are probably all aware not all Celebrities do this and although it is saddening that not everyone is nice enough to help charities it is their choice. Anyway if you want to check out the message A7x posted online I'll post a link down below along with the charities website.

The kind of things I will be posting will be based around the metal genre this includes the majority of the sub genres,  if I have missed out a band or a sub genre I do apologise it will be entirely by accident if you comment on one of my blog posts which sub genre I should add also any bands I may have missed thank you :)

Crown The Empire 2014 album review

I have listened too crown the empire's new album and their first song starts of with setting the scene like any good story however the ending of their first song "Call To Arms" doesn't fit with what they are trying to achieve. The ending at least to me sounds like it should be in a different song. Their second song 'initiation' however is better then their first and the song goes together nicely with a blend of guirar, vocals and storytelling. This is a nice follow on from their last album. Millennia sounds more pop than their usual blend of electronic ambience and metal catharis. It seems that Crown the Empire are experimenting with their sound, good for them but I and I'm sure others hope that they will pick a genre and stick to it well at least for a while. I am not one to discourage experimenting with music in fact I am all for it but not every song should be a different in an album. The album should fit together nicelyalthough the songs fit together through the story they tell. It however doesn't fit together in terms of genre. Some genres go well together like classical and rock for example. Their song MNSTR however confused me. Are there two stories in this album or one? Or is it different points of view? Their song second thoughts seems to parallel with their song Millennia but fits better then the first song. Overall I'd say their recent album has fallen short of their album The Fallout although some songs like Mechanical Me and Johnny's Rebellion in their album are good and are worth a listen. So although their new album has fallen short all is not lost or is it?
